• The Weaver Academy opened as a full time arts high school in 2003. Since that time The Weaver Academy Chorale has represented Greensboro, NC with distinction as a part of local, state, national and international performances and competitions. The Chorale has consistently received superior ratings in NCMEA, Heritage Festivals, Fiestavals, and Festival Disney competitions. The Weaver Chorale has competed and received superior gold ratings from various Heritage Music Festivals. As a result of their performance in these festivals, the Weaver Chorale was invited to participate in Carnegie Hall’s Festivals of Gold in both 2012 (under Dr. Anton Armstrong) and 2015 (under Lynn Gackle). In April, 2015 The Weaver Chorale was not only a participant in the Carnegie Hall Festival, but was honored to be chosen as the featured choir of the Festival. They performed their own solo set on the Carnegie Hall Stage to an enthusiastic standing ovation. In 2009, 2011, 2014, and 2017 The Chorale competed at Festival Disney in Orlando, Florida. The Chorale received superior and best in class ratings at each of these festivals. In the 2015 Festival Disney, The Weaver Chorale was also chosen to win the best choir overall in that particular festival. In 2018 The Weaver Academy Chorale competed in New York City’s Fiestaval, and won a superior rating, first place in their division, and overall first place choir – the highest prize in the festival. The Weaver Academy Chorale has enjoyed private master classes by voice teachers and directors from Appalachian State University, University of North Carolina, Greensboro College, and Westminster Choir College. Students from The Weaver Chorale have received scholarships to prestigious colleges and universities throughout the USA including University of North Carolina School of The Arts, Carnegie Melon University, Berklee College of Music, Boston Conservatory, Elon University, Vanderbilt University, New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Westminster Choir College and Appalachian State University.
