Dr. Erin Johnson
Dr. Erin Johnson is the Assistant Principal at Oak View Elementary. Dr. Johnson has been with Guilford County Schools since 2001, when she started as a classroom teacher at Gateway Education Center. Her teaching experience began in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she was a Teacher Assistant in both elementary and middle school settings. Following her move to North Carolina, Dr. Johnson, began her licensed teacher career in Special Education K-8 classrooms as well as the special education preschool program within GCS. She taught at Gateway Education Center and Ronald E. McNair Elementary for 18 years before transitioning to a district position at the GCS Exceptional Children’s Services. While with the Exceptional Children’s Services, Dr. Johnson was a Coordinator for the Professional Teaching and Learning team where she supported the Elementary Adapted Curriculum classrooms district wide. While providing district level professional learning and classroom teacher coaching and support, Dr. Johnson developed a passion for the support and development of new classroom teachers. In the 2021-2022 school year, Dr. Johnson transitioned to the Assistant Principal position at Oak View where she has supported the ongoing school changes that have occurred to develop Oak View as an integral part of the school neighborhood and community.
Dr. Johnson is a recent graduate of High Point University where she received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and researched the importance of school leadership in teacher retention. In her free time, Dr. Johnson enjoys reading and spending time with her family, including her husband and two children, as well as her two retired greyhounds. A college swimmer, Dr. Johnson enjoys swimming and exercising as well as being active in local children’s year-round swimming programs.
