There are 3 Levels of Drafting, beginning with drafting one, and building each year thereafter.
Below is a brief description of each course.Honors Drafting One
This course introduces students to the use of simple and complex graphic tools used to communicate and understand ideas and concepts found in the areas of architecture, manufacturing, engineering, science, mathematics and others. Topics include problem-solving strategies, classical representation methods such as sketching, and geometric construction techniques as well as CAD (computer aided drafting), orthographic projection, and oblique and isometric drawings. Skills in math, science, communication, leadership, and problem solving are reinforced in this course.Drafting - Honors Engineering II
This course introduces students to the use of simple and complex tools as well as the skills used to communicate, analyze, and understand ideas and concepts found in the areas of engineering, science, and mathematics. Topics include teaming skills, basic manufacturing processes, elementary 3-D modeling, primary auxiliaries, dimensioning, and computer aided concepts, principles, and skills.Drafting - Honors Engineering III
This course introduces students to advanced Engineering design concepts. Emphasis is placed on the use of 2D CAD and 3D CAD tools in the design and execution of advanced Engineering principles. Topics include teaming skills, descriptive geometry, cams and gears, threads and fasteners, precision dimensioning, and computer aided drafting concepts, principles and skills.
